I has Whirlpool washing machine that lasted more than 20 years. When it finally gave up the ghost I bought a Fisher and Paykel that literally within 2 months of the 2 year warranty expiring. To their credit, Fisher and Paykel replaced it but even so.....
The guide for fridges here is in between 6 and 13 years. Under 6 you should not have any issues arguing with them (they will), over 6 it might take some more effort.
I did not know that, and, living in Australia I should take advantage of that!
re: laundry, did you ever consider getting a second whirlpool? either way, what about the paykel outweighed 20 years of reliability?
Damn that explains why it didn't keep food cold.

Can't recall why I didn't get another Whirlppol - maybe they are out of business now because their products lasted too long? Regardless, no doubt in the 20 years sense then they would have switched to the same cheap crap manufacturing as everyone else.
I've now decided to buy the very cheapest possible fridge in the future.
Expensive still seems to be shit, so it may as well be cheap and shit.
