It's my observation that even uncontroversial posts are likely to receive an initial wave of rapid downvotes, followed by a slow trickle of upvotes that may even last 2 or 3 days.

I don't pretend I can explain it, but in my mind it is better to accept it and to simply upvote if you think it has been voted down inappropriately.

If I had to guess probably because of his username, downvoted by a republican, but I'm an European living in Europe so what do I know...
