I have been working in the software industry since 1990. In 1990, I joined a company that made innovative coupling between AutoCad and relational databases (Oracle). However, I wrote my first program in 1978 in Algol 60. I also used Fortran, LISP, (Turbo) Pascal, BASIC, and 6502 Assembly before (in 1990) starting to develop software in C.

I remember that one day at this company, we had just got a MicroVAX system, when I there was someone at the door with a europallet. We wondered what it could be. Turned out it was the VAX/VMS documentation that belonged to the MicroVAX. It took more space than the system itself.

Shelves and shelves of tidy orange binders. I had them too!
