Only recently had disagreement with two officers who thought something was a civil law issue and not their domain when it was actually a common law issues and for context was fraud related. Of note I esculated to their managment who confirmed they were wrong and I was right.

Going to ACLU or others to sue the Police Department, or going to Internal Affairs, or any of the new legislation they have to follow or other emasculations.
Simple stuff, two said you were wrong, you escalated, and you were found to be right. Doesn't work that badly in real life.
So for most people, it wouldn't of worked out well.
