> Google’s keyboard app routinely eats 150 MB. Is an app that draws 30 keys on a screen really five times more complex than the whole Windows 95?
Calling it 30 keys is silly, and undermines their argument because it certainly isn’t 30 keys.
How many MB is reasonable for features I use like the swipe feature? For Chinese entry? For spelling support?
> Google Play Services, which I do not use (I don’t buy books, music or videos there)—300 MB that just sit there and which I’m unable to delete.
The writer is showing their absolute ignorance of what Google Play Services does - a better name would be Android System Services. Maybe question the need for 300MB, but use some intelligence rather than just making crappy off-the-cuff strawman arguments.
