I've had very different risk appetites during the trajectory of my career. Early on, I was okay with taking roles in teams and companies that may not have been a surefire thing because I basically only needed to make rent and feed myself. Now that I have mouths to feed and a mortgage to pay, I have far risk appetite.
I've been in a large company now for a few years (watching my peers capture huge salaries in the interim) and there are trade-offs these folks should be aware of. You're going to find far more ingrained politics and baggage. Your opportunity to make waves (positively) is limited. You really have to sharpen diplomatic skills to navigate the sheer quantity of siloed team structures. It can be quite a jarring transition for folks used to moving faster.
