I'm somewhat of a generalist inside of a big company. The job I do doesn't exist, there isn't an HR code for it, and we don't hire for it. You have to just get your feet in the door, network, and basically find a manager who can help you do the job you invent for yourself.

...and to get a foot in the door you have to specialize in something to actually pass an interview and get hired.

That's so true, no matter how much this quality is important. It is always been seen from different angles by recruiters.

This trait is more about phase fit than role fit
