I’m not quite sure if that’s accurate. The distinction is that Disney isn’t allowing the movies to have for-profit showings. The movies are still widely available on streaming services or to purchase through iTunes. Alien was brought up as an example of a film in the article - the first four Alien movies are on sale for $20 on iTunes right now.

This isn’t so much Disney hiding the movies, but more that they’re limiting many to in home screening only.

This article is talking only about leasing to movie theaters not home viewing.
