What is the rendering engine for this? Is it Webkit or something else?

It's powered by a WebKit engine. Amazon Silk jobs are asking for Webkit engineers [1]. Presumably, they've modded the underlying Android browser.

Interesting that you can use Webkit to build your browser but still call it "all-new".

So you must think there's no difference between Safari and Chrome then.

One of those pairs seems backwards.

He didn't say there was no difference - just that it's obviously not 'all-new'.

If it's anything but Webkit, I won't be testing my sites in it unless they manage to get decent penetration.

Until it outranks IE6 in my stats, I won't even be giving it a look in.
