It’s interesting how words evolve. Maybe this was different for others, but when I saw the headline, my expectation was that this would be an article about going back to desktop apps with built in updaters, or something like that. Because I’ve always felt the cloud got used as a business-speak version of internet 2.0. So by TPE, my brain saw that and thought “someone’s writing about dieting from the internet as we know it”.
In this case they’re using “cloud” as a drop in for software-infrastructure-as-service. Or “be your own best little cloud”.
Which is not wrong. Maybe I’m the one late to the slang party here. Either way, i still find it an interesting example of how these buzzwords morph over time.
