Plenty of people expressed the same doubts in 1950, with good reason. There hadn’t been any examples of successful democracies outside of a handful of countries. But to repeat the same racist canards in 2022 is shameful. You ignore the evidence of 70 years of successful democracy in tens of countries around the world.
Democracy backsliding is a recent worldwide phenomenon. Notice how few Americans have faith that the last election was conducted fairly. Notice how some Americans almost succeeded at violently overthrowing their government a year ago. And when they did, no one condescended to them by saying “oh, maybe it’s a racial thing”.

There is a theory that the first and second world wars (and a bunch of other bad stuff) can be traced fairly directly to anti-democratic propaganda of this type.
The protocol of the elders of Zion is one famous example initially fabricated by monarchists to explain how democracy is actually scary and bad and foreign, the illuminati are still a classic conspiracy feature because they were interested in democracy. It's also interesting that greater democracy was forced on Germany after WW2 to stop repeats, so at least some people at the time and close to the situation seem to agree with this thesis.
