It’s pretty easy to say and quite memorable in my opinion. Are you aware of the Norse roots of the name?

For normal, mainstream people, it isn't.

The first sentence on the website says:

> Yggdrasil is an implementation of a new name-independent routing scheme and functions as an end-to-end encrypted IPv6 network.

Somehow I don't think this project is aimed at "normal, mainstream people"...

The set of techies and the set of nordic people are both minorities in the world - but they don't overlap.

Tbh, you don't have to be Nordic to have a basic grasp of mythology from around the world and Yggdrasil is pretty commonly known. Even if people just know it from Marvel comics or heavy metal or something.

No it isn’t man. In what world it commonly known?

Mine, apparently. I don't have any particular connection to Norse mythology afaict, but I've encountered the term "Yggdrasil" at least half a dozen time just surfing on the net.

Huh? So there are no Nordic techies?!?

In your bubble that might be the case, but that’s not necessarily true for a lot of other people.

Something like "Zeus" is mainstream.

Yggdrasil is not. You can lookup the Google Trends [1] to see that it's not really popular outside of Northen Europe.

Normal mainstream people don't understand TCP either. They don't need to know about ygdrassil for it to succeed.
