Smart artists have already internalized this.

I remember an interview with the lead singer(?) of a hard rock/metal band where the interviewer asked when their next tour was coming up and his response was "LOL! I can go on tour and lose money or stay here, play the occasional local gig, and charge $100/hour to do tattoos. When do you think our next tour is going to be?"

I hope they’d make a lot more than $100/hr doing a concert. Otherwise they sound like, you know, a local band without any real following.

These concerts were roughly 300-500 person venues. And it looks like they did a good job filling them up.

And they lost money. So, not only was their salary not $100/hr, it was, in fact, negative dollars per hour.
