Running a secure and reliable server is not trivial. Getting one up and running is easy, sure. Keeping it that way with 4 nines of reliability is anything but. Scaling past that one sever is it’s own task.

Talking about a cluster being elementary is frankly absurd.

I think you might be confusing “got it working!” with “hardened in production.“

It is not trivial, but it is not rocket science either. And as far as that goes, rocket science is not that hard either. It is a skill set that is very much worth developing, which pays itself back exponentially.

I feel like a lot of the industry is just trying to be relevant by pretending simple things are difficult, selling buzzword solutions to hide the simplicity.

It's not about simplicity, it's about opportunity costs.
