That's kind of interesting, I got the impression that he'd somewhat deliberately gone low profile after mythbusters, so I would have thought this kind of "thought leader" role (it doesn't sound like he'll be publishing papers or giving lectures for the university) doesn't fit in with that.

Realistically he may have just wanted to move to Finland and this was a good way to do it where he is automatically embedded in a community? He also has pre-existing ties with this university, as he received an honorary degree from them in 2017.

I think if he really wanted to go low profile he would just shave his goatee and stop wearing a beret.

In my field professor of practice means you have to a bunch of crap work for the department and you're not getting tenure or seniority.
