What rubs me the wrong way is that he shot himself an HOUR after the judge ruled he would lose his daughter and what sounds like huge amount of money.

The explanation from the ex-wife sounds very fishy as well.

This piece sounds very carefully written to make the wife look like the good person and demonize the dude. But I would be willing to bet it's not that simple.
