Seems like a bold claim to make, claiming that the code has been copied. If it was reverse-engineered, then the code should be legally redistributable as long as it doesn't contain amy copyrighted assets, right?
as for why take2 wants to waste their time on this 15+ year old game, i have absolutely no idea. i highly doubt they can sell it any more to their target demographic of retro gamers, who've likely already bought it for ps2, steam and mobile...

That's too much effort. Why would they put more into the game? Think more along the lines of "radically curtailed music catalogue"
