We will compare the Sweden and their death toll to the other Nordic countries: Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland.

Sweden has lost almost 15000 people. Fifteen thousand.

If Sweden had done like each of these countries, the number people they would have killed would have been like so:

Denmark's measures: 4628 lives lost instead of 14760. 10131 people killed unnecessarily in Sweden.

Finland's measures: 1961 lives lost instead of 14760. 12799 people killed unnecessarily in Sweden.

Norway's measures: 1618 lives lost instead of 14760. 13141 people killed unnecessarily in Sweden.

Iceland's measures: 936 lives lost instead of 14760. 13823 people killed unnecessarily in Sweden.

Let's compare with New Zealand too: Sweden could have lost only 56 people. 14703 people killed unnecessarily in Sweden.

AT LEAST TEN TO THIRTEEN THOUSAND PEOPLE WERE KILLED WHO DIDN'T HAVE TO DIE. Those lives are gone. Those people won't come back.

Please by all means keep writing these deranged articles about how Sweden's handling of the pandemic wasn't a complete disaster. It's great to know who the absolute psychopaths are.

You are distorting the numbers for political ends. The majority of those deaths were among urban immigrants or elders in care homes, both of which are unusually large subsets of the population in Sweden. Sloppy math does not save lives.

Are you claiming that population composition and urbanization between Sweden and neighboring countries is significantly different?

Extremely different. Sweden has 20% foreign born inhabitants.

Foreign born, as in Immigrants. Immigrants tend to be working age people, i.e. on young side. This fact only works against your argument.

Would you like to put those numbers in deaths per 100,000?

Probably not. Because that turns lives into statistics and he is making an emotional appeal about the 10000 theoretical families affected by lost loved ones. I for example, frequently look at local hospitalization rates and remind myself that a good number of them are mothers and fathers on ventilators so I can't F about in public like everyone else while the numbers are rising so I reduce risk of leaving my wife alone with kids while I'm stuck in a hospital bed for a week or 2 and the worry about keeping up on the rent that follows. -not perfectly healthy I'm vaccinated but I think that just makes me certain to not die, but not necessarily keep me out of a hospital bed. Sometimes it helps to remind numbers are people.

Throwing around 'psychopaths' remember a good number of people grow up with abuse or neglect. Probably easier for them not to care about distant strangers and meaningless numbers. We are a vast planet with 99.99% of people in need of serious therapy. (Probably everyone)

I'm curious the statistics of how many people have lost a close contact in the pandemic to COVID. Maybe a lot of deaths are neglected parents and grandparents which is why it seems like so few people care about taking COVID precautions seriously anymore. In the US it seems we are past fatigue into exhaution in the majority even as cases continue in the unvaccinated kids and adults.
