1787: And what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. - Thomas Jefferson, https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Jefferson/01-12-02-0...

2021: If you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons. - Joe Biden, https://www.businessinsider.com/biden-mocks-gun-right-advoca...

Yeah, if your soldiers are mindless drones who would risk their lives to kill their citizens without blinking. Just look at what actually happens: protests with open carries don't even get forcibly dismantled, but are carefully negotiated with.

Two months later, 2021: Biden retreats disastrously to rebels armed with second-hand AK47s

this is a terrible analogy

the US purposefully withdrew per negotiations with Taliban - something almost everyone wanted but no president had the guts to do until now

sure the US totally failed in its mission and shouldn't have been there as long as we were (if at all), but trying to characterize it as the partisan failure (in the larger sense) of one president is just flat out wrong

It directly and vividly contradicts Biden's statement that anyone would need F-15s and nuclear weapons to defeat the US. That is the point. The Taliban didn't need them. Neither did the Viet Cong for that matter.

"It's ok if we take away your guns because they don't matter anyway when it comes to protecting yourself from the government" is contradictory to reality. This has nothing to do with characterizing any failure as partisan unless you mean Biden's failure to prove his statement correct.

The US government is not threatened by the Taliban, nor is the US in general. You're conflating very differing kinds of fight.

Not really. What do you think a rebellion in the US would look like? Probably a lot like fighting dispersed groups of militants… like the Taliban

They’re not going to be having dogfights in F-15s or nuking Chicago so those capabilities are not really helpful.
