For example, plants expressing a Snf7-targeting double-stranded RNA to control western corn root worm are now commercialised. dsRNA does not have the toxicity issues associated with many synthetic and organic insecticides, and is far more specific (so doesn't impact on beneficial species). There are no additional applications of anything required for the effect.
