Our site broke in Safari because Safari handles dates (as in the built-in Date object) differently than all other browsers, so it's not just styling or visual things that can be different.
Safari handles date only time different to other browser (the time zone). Your date is going to be off by <time zone> hours if you don't append a timezone on it to force it parsed correctly.
