I'm on a CAD65 plan with Fido that includes 10GB so that's CAD6.5/GB if you ignore everything else that comes with the plan. That would be closer to what other countries are paying. Where does the discrepancy come from though?

Edit: I just checked and it's actually 15GB but that's a "temporary" add-on apparently.

That's not how the study measures it, it uses low-end plans as a standard for all countries. If you were to take high-end plans then you'd see prices drop across the board. I pay 26$/2GB with Fizz so that's accurate.

I see. In your case it would still not be the almost EUR14/GB from the tweet but closer to it, for sure, about EUR9.14/GB. Anyway, I know it's bad here in Canada but I can't help but feel this report cherry picked their numbers.

I have special pricing and my plan only works in my province. If I wanted to get it today it would be around 32$/2GB, and it would be even worse outside of Québec.

The study is looking at total mobile service revenue. It says so right on the graph. What makes you think they are only looking at certain plans?

But I think you were on the right track, possibly most people have low-end plans so total revenue skews towards low end plans? But you can definitely get data much cheaper than 14EUR per GB.

Well yes, but the important thing is that it's the same methodology everywhere. It really is that much more expensive.

You can get data at theoretically 0$/GB if you get an ungodly expensive truly unlimited plan, so the marginal cost isn't accurate, we have to be at or near the average, and most plans are going to be lower end.
