Why is there no one talking about some sort of military response like literally building a base at the bielorussian border with fighter planes that would prevent such equally military actions like that.

How would a military escalation help in a conflict in which Russia is involved? Besides that, I doubt that there would be any public support for this in European countries that are not direct neighbours.

There are NATO bases all over the world including the Belorussian border.

For reference, I think the closest thing would be polish air base in Lask, which has both polish F-16s and US aircraft stationed. It's about 400 km from belarussian border and 700 km from Minsk.

Spend billions building a base to do what? Invade Belarussian airspace (an act of war) to guard the passenger plane if this incident happens again?

Bilions no, but other wise yes. The case could largely be made that intercepting a flight departing feom and landing in other countries is some sort of invasion too.

I think economic interventions are cheaper and faster to implement.

Military interventions have a tendency to escalate.

The ONLY way to stand up to bullies is actually to escalate, not to try "negociations".

Russia has military zone (Kaliningrad) close to Poland and Lithuania, escalating military conflict with Belarus will make Russia to respond.

Exactly how would Russia respond militarily? Except perhaps attempts to destabilize Ukraine even more, what cards can they really play here?

Imagine the roles were reversed. A country was building a base on your border to try and effect your countries policy. Would that make you back down?
