No, no, no... I don't understand why the author would suggest specifying in pixels. We know pixel size varies widely between different displays. This means we need stupid hacks like having a multiplier to convert from specified pixels to actual pixels. So why pretend it's specifying pixels in the first place?
It's always annoyed me that DPI is not expected to be set correctly. All monitors should come with a DPI value that you set in your OS. Of course, a user is free to add some kind of multiplier on top of that (to account for variation in sight and preference), but the baseline would be standard.
