I've often wondered do I need a license to use a license?

I see lots of license-texts but less frequently any mention about who is allowed to copy the license-text to use it with their own software?

Can I use it for my software?

Most open source licenses are themselves permissively licensed. Your probably fine copying any major open source license into your project.

I just wonder if there could be some problem with a self-referential license. Can a the license-text contain its own license?
