Why would I want to live "Google free"?

Compared to other companies who collect similar amounts of data, G has (as of yet) behaved quite well.

If I don't want AdWords or Analytics tracking, I can redirect their domains to 127.0.0.1 (which I do for Analytics).

Thanks. Opt-ed out. Although I must admit the ads seem pretty much the same.

You can also use the Ghostery browser plugin for that, and it also protects you from many other ad services.
