Because even though you might be able to make a case for "Asians" being fetishized (in the West), the argument of redheads being fetishized is bonkers. Unless you'd like to also make the argument for blondes[1] being fetishized, and heck, why not throw brunettes[1] in there too?

You concur that there may be a case for "Asians" being fetishized. So Gizmodo has a totally valid case for mentioning Asians in the title, by your own admission? Plus the title is factually true. What was your complaint about in the first place, regarding "race-baiting" and "clickbait"?

If blondes and brunettes have their lives affected in a similar manner where they are prevented from searching about themselves, I would make the same argument.

The point is that these terms that describe our identities should not be filtered out.
