As a consumer, I will still pick Intel + Nvidia. This stuff (mostly) just works.. Even without drivers
AMD can just work, but most people who have problems with new hardware are the AMD users. It comes mostly down to software support, drivers and BIOS configuration.
Another example is that every 'fps performance guide' always included a big section just for AMD users. It's just too finicky.. Always has been.
This still makes me shy away from AMD and just spend the extra few bucks.
AMD's sweet spot are the people on lowish budgets
