Won't the fencepost move to the service provider blocking the box somebody owns? Does the net neutrality repeal apply here?

It's pretty ironic that conservatives destroyed net neutrality when that would have been the final backstop to ensure that they were able to keep their servers connected to the internet. Frankly, I'll be happy to see the return of net neutrality even if it comes from a place of political dishonesty.

will the data centers hosting your "metal" not implement the same policies?

I know this is largely infeasible for anyone to do, but I really do hope the internet becomes more decentralized as a result of all this.

Fair enough. At least be dependent on somebody without a near monopoly on the service you need.

They didn't like Twitter, so they built their own. That wasn't good enough.

You're right, they need their own metal / backend / hardware.

Of course... that would be a problem when Visa / Chase / Paypal / Stipe / Square all refuse to run their payments.

So maybe while they're building their own metal, they should build their own banking system too.
