You mentioned studying in Europe. Are you going to be based there? If that's the case, the Google offer looks far less attractive - neither the salary or opportunities that you'll have will be that exceptional.
Most likely, but I think the compensation will still be competitive; CoL in Europe is lower than in the U.S., I also think that generally QoL is higher in Europe.
On the opportunities side, I agree, luck plays a significant role here.
