What about using methanol? It has been cleared for use powering laptops. Cleaner burning and quieter than 2-stroke petrol?

Methanol has half the energy density of gasoline.

Do the advantages of clean and quiet burning, and perhaps a lighter and simpler engine, outweigh that?
