How did you get YouTube-dl? That was the second thing I tried but I get SSL issues with both wget and curl.

I also tried installing some npm packages but ran into permission issues.

You can disable SSL checks, though I don't think I had them. Youtube-dl is very slow though, you're better off using a Telegram bot to give you the videos. The app also can't run for long in the background, which is essential for downloading.

Curiously at some point I also had SSL errors with youtube-dl, I installed mine via pip3, and I think updating it fixed the problem.

Re: permission errors, might be due to the fact that you are root by default and should add a new non-root user (via useradd).
