You conflate communism as the cause for an event caused by authoritarianism. A form of government that is making a startling comeback at this moment across the western world.
It is true there have never been any enduring communist governments. Any that formed are taken over internally and operated as authoritarian states, China, North Korea and others where there is no vote at all, just press releases of huge votes in favor of the guys in power.
