I think that directly participating in a system that prices people out of homes by purchasing a multi-million dollar unnecssarily luxurious home is absolutely blame-worthy.
I don't think there is any new condo in NYC that doesn't advertise itself as luxury. So if you want modern features such as insulation, central cooling, heating that doesn't require open windows in the winter then your options are all luxury units.
Unfortunately the article mentioning the cost of the apartment elicit these types of "good riddance" and "down with the 'rich'" responses.
