It's become harder to approach women. Based on my experience, they are far more likely this day in age to reject you than ever before. That coupled with the constant barrage men receive on the sexual misconduct front coupled with the notion that women only want exceedingly wealthy, attractive, muscular men makes it very easy for men to slink away into their rooms after work, and play video games all night rather than face the reality's of dating.

Why shouldn't their standards be high? Women that is.. I mean women are enjoying more financial success, and independence than ever before. Marriage is becoming a notion of the past. Children are being seen as to large of a burden, and relationships are being sent by the way side as a result.

If you ask me, kids are just starting to open their eyes is all.

EDIT: After thinking about this I would like to offer up some optimism. I think the lack of confidence in men that we see when approaching women will inevitable lead to women becoming less reluctant to approach men then it has historically been. Optimistically, I believe this will start to reverse some the effects we are noticing among single males.
