The visual artefacts (white spikes) on the woman's shoulder are pretty bad. Unacceptably bad, I would say.
The reasoning for including the picture is in the actual _text_ of the article. I do not wish to antagonize people who have trouble reading, but I also think they shouldn't be surprised when they miss out on material information.
