Is this based on evidence of some kind (clinical peer-reviewed studies, personal experiences, anecdotal reading, other)?

Noteworthy:

Considering the complexity of this space, forming and asserting specific conclusions (ie: the ability to deceive yourself into believing something) seems a bit premature.
