I could certainly believe that "similar" molecules behave alike, but it would be a cheap belief, like e.g. some of my friends believe in psychics. There would be no discovery, just a pseudo-scientific bullying.
I've been stuck in this uncanny valley before, and caused the phenomenon to happen to others too.
