I used it a few years ago, did they improve tooling?

I love to "actually code" games, but some graphic stuff is a pain to do without GUI.

Not sure, I evaluated it years ago. Thinking about it more, the main 'tooling' I remember using was that it had good support for Tiled maps.

Right. I remember using a 3rd party tool to create the maps.
