Didn’t Chinese doctors who tried to accurately share about this virus get silenced by the Chinese government? And the Chinese have a pretty bad track record when it comes to actual international cooperation on virus outbreaks in general [1], a tradition that goes back to at least SARS. And the other problem is that the Chinese have a pretty bad track record when it comes to not lying. The Chinese government has blood on their hands and trusting any “tips” from China-based doctors would be foolish given how they have routinely lied and obfuscated since the very beginning of this [2] — even stating information they knew to be false, specifically that there was no human-to-human transmission.

If I am incorrect, I would welcome a correction, however the Chinese handling of this has led to thousands dead and economies devastated. Plenty of people are mad at Trump, because Trump, but the real international outrage should be directed at the Chinese and any “frontline tips” from the Chinese should be treated as suspicious. They did, after all withhold the genome of this virus for over a week — lying about when they actually sequenced it. They lied about human to human transmission when they had overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They had the Ministry of State Security detain and harass doctors who not only weren’t going to the broader public, but were simply sharing information among themselves.

Thinking that any information you’d get from a Chinese doctor on social media would be reliable is beyond foolish.
