A man has died and his wife is under critical care after the couple, both in their 60s, ingested chloroquine phosphate, an additive commonly used at aquariums to clean fish tanks.
That’s like saying “My neighbor had a banana, a common ingredient in certain brands of monkey food, for breakfast this morning,” and people going around saying “she ate monkey food.”
Chloroquine phosphate is one of the two quines being touted for its potential efficacy in treating COVID-19 (the other being hydroxychloroquine). Nowhere in the article does it say “the man and his wife consumed a gallon of aquarium cleaner, which contains an additive with alleged curative properties.”
