If we're ever going to be more embracing of people other than men, it's gotta start with us. We can't just mis-gender and then pat ourselves on the back thinking we're doing something to fix the inequalities in our fields, and the fact that it sticks out like a sore thumb on hackernews is heartbreaking. :(
