I looked on the Berkey website but couldn't find specifics about the mechanism that these filters use; is it simply reverse osmosis?

I helped a relative assemble theirs, they appear to be gravity fed activated carbon blocks.

Buying Berkey is overpaying for brand and marketing.

I love my off-brand filter I bought from St. Paul Mercantile.

I don't see the need to pay for a brand and logo on the filter.
