Zed is an idiot. I've read his book when I started programming (eh, decent, not that great) but his opinion on bootcamps is uninformed and flat out ignorant. I attended Hack Reactor in SF and all the smart, motivated people ended up getting really good jobs in big tech and startups. Most people were in this category. The not-so-smart and not-so-motivated people didn't do that well. Go figure. Bootcamps aren't a scam, and they aren't a magic pill. I was making 6 figures within a few months of graduating from Hack Reactor. Let's do the ROI on that - $20k for a $120k salary within 1 year - 6X my original investment. The majority of graduates were in a similar boat. Zed's claim about survivorship bias couldn't be further from the truth.
