Religious flamewar is particularly unwelcome. You've done a lot of that on HN in the past. No more please.
I remember when I was a teenager and I started doubting my mother's Catholicism. I started reading philosophy books and trying to have arguments with her about the existence of God. She was totally unable to engage, she had zero interest in rational arguments for and against religion, she never approached religion with a critical eye, to her it was just "I believed what I was told, why won't you?". Not an approach likely to win over a sceptical teenager.
What percentage of Saudis are totally convinced Islam is true, as opposed to simply paying lip service to it out of social and legal compulsion? Very hard question to answer, even if someone says "Yes", some of those "Yes" will be honest, others driven by fear. (In Saudi Arabia, atheism and apostasy from Islam both carry the death penalty.)
Where you are born very often determines labels, but there is a big difference between a convinced/devout believer, and a person for whom their religion is just a cultural/ethnic group membership marker.
I don't have the power to downvote but its comments like these that are used by fascists [1][2][3] the world over, sometimes for mass murder [4] and genocide [5] so please be careful how you wield it
