I always liked the term "CV" (I was just trying to be different - lame I know), but I realized in North America - I'm Canadian - "resume" is the defacto standard. A position in academia will mention CV, or rather, "CV/Resume".
In my experiences, I've noticed there are some distinct differences between a CV and a Resume. The most obvious difference being the focus on papers, publications and research in a CV that's not usually found in a resume.
