Each internal node stores associative statistics of the data in its subtree; currently, the statistics are the minimum value, mean value, maximum value, and number of data points. BTrDB uses the internal nodes to accelerate processing of these statistical aggregates over arbitrary time ranges.
Pretty much the sort of thing my coworkers would try to pass off as “documentation” and someone else would have to do it over for them...
Basic stats are recorded for the children of each tree node, and this is where the power-of-2 property comes from
