If it were marketed to mass consumers, the name would be be bad. Engineers though are likely to appreciate how the name is evocative of its resiliency.

I think the name is great. It's weird enough to stand out from the pack, and it also communicates one of core benefits of the database versus the competitors.

It's certainly a name you can't forget easily, but there's nothing dumb about it. It's intended to be a highly survivable system, that's where the name came from -- in popular culture cockroaches are supposed to be able to survive a nuclear attack. It's a great connotation

MongoDB is arguably worse.
