Once (or rather, if) PGP gains some traction this problem will disappear; email clients will improve the UX to show a specialised "PGP signed" box and hide the attachment.

It's been 23 years since MIME Security with Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) was proposed.

That's what I thought. But after 5 years I gave up and do not sign my emails any more.
