As long as they force their shitty software down people's throats every day (literally what the article is about), people will keep complaining about them. Just like everyone who's forced to use Comcast complains.

In fact it's mainly abusive monopolies that tend to receive this nonstop criticism. Ordinary crappy companies go out of business because people can switch to their alternatives, then no one complains about them anymore.

Don’t just blame Facebook. It’s the fault of everyone who buys a product from a company whose business model is more complex than you give them money and they give you stuff. In this case, every Android phone maker except for probably Google and Google only sells around 3 million phones a year.

Did Facebook force OEMs to include their software on their devices? Isn't it more likely that OEMs are getting paid for the placement and the blame for its inclusion lies with OEMs?

Ok, fair enough. The article isn't about Facebook forcing their shitty software down our throats (which they still do, via notification and email spam).

I think it is meaningful distinction in this context. The responsibility for the inclusion of these apps lies solely on the OEMs and carriers. If there's beef to had then it has to be laid at the feet of the OEMs and carriers.
